Sgt. Theresa Vail "A Woman With A Crown And Combat Boots"/Famous People YOU Didn't Know Served Your Country

1) "Miss Kansas Teresa Vail"


So ladies, I KNOW we've all heard of this girl in combat boots and who took home a crown. But really WHO IS SHE?!?! Talk about a strong, gorgeous military woman. I mean come on guys! She isn't only the looker but quite the inspiration. But I mean you have to get to know her first before you take her out to dinner. But really! Who is this mystery woman? And what makes her such a role model today? Well, I'm curious too!


1) "Once the competition's preliminaries begin in Atlantic City, N.J., on Tuesday, Sept. 10, Vail will be the second contestant in the military to compete (Miss Utah 2007 was a combat medic in the Army National Guard)."

WHOA! That's really impressive about the fact that she has such a passion for the military like I do. But what made her interested? And what makes her such a good image for young girls to look up to?


1) "Nobody expects a soldier to be a beauty queen," Vail says, "but I'm all about breaking stereotypes." 

Another thing she's "all about" is empowering women. 

"I was bullied when I was a kid. It got so bad that I nearly took my own life ... My dad [an Army dentist stationed in Germany] took me hunting with him and it saved my life. Ever since then, I've been an outdoors girl," she says. "My passion is empowering girls through male-dominated outdoor sports." 

She adds, "I want to help them develop confidence, to let them know that they have what it takes to accomplish anything they want to accomplish. I know many young girls look at beauty candidates and think, 'What a perfect life they have.' But I want them to know that I haven't led a perfect life. And that beauty comes from the inside."

2) "World War II" Take a guess on who this might be.

OK. You could most likely take a guess of who might and have might not been in combat boots. HOWEVER there are some people that might just catch you off guard. Can you guess the person up at the top? I'll tell you what he did

2) "...was an infantry clerk and drew cartoons for several Army newspapers."

Well if you couldn't take a guess, I'll just give it to you...

3) "The Founder, Editor-in-Chief and Chief Creative Officer of Playboy, Hugh M. Hefner, is a man who has profoundly influenced society in the last 50 years while his publication remains the world's best-selling men's lifestyle magazine."

2) " air policeman" 

The pictures a little blurry but this guy is probably not the most shocking! I mean if you can finish this riddle, then you'll know who this is...

4) " Chuck Norris threw a grenade and killed 50 people, then it exploded."

Maybe not the funniest joke I've ever heard but hey you can never go wrong when it comes to, that's right, Chuck Norris. He served in South Korea as an air-policeman then got interested in martial arts. 

2) "Served in Kosovo, Liberia, and Afghanistan"

So there's no really guessing where you've seen this guy in "21 Jump Street" is your favorite movie EVER! *hint hint* But it's still awesome to know cool facts about people that are pretty famous. Rob Riggle would most likely be the coolest person when it comes to acting. But what did he do in the military? 

2) "Riggle was a lieutenant colonel in the Marine Corps, and public affairs officer with the NYC unit. He was still serving when he was cast on Saturday Night Live in 2004."

That's pretty wicked if you ask me! But what about what he was thinking?  Well check this out! 

5) " I always wanted to try to do comedy and acting, and if I put on those wings, in all reality, in all likelihood, I wouldn’t get to try comedy and acting. So I stopped flying for the Marines, and they made me a ground officer [a contract to be a Marine ground officer is only four years], sent me to Defense Information School and made me a Public Affairs Officer."
